He leaned his head out the door and shouted out "Hey if you are alive give us a sign. To know it is safe."

He opened the door and forced it shut to prevent anymore wind from coming in, "Whew...what weather..."

The dragon waited outside and sniffed the air. She seemed to catch a scent from the man she was speaking to only seconds ago and gained a bit of unexpected pleasure. "Seems that he isn't entirely human, how quaint." She hummed this to herself which seemed to calm her nerves quite a bit.

Ayden stepped by his friend and crossed his arms. "So, Dragons can talk...they also have religion, history, and wisdom. Surprising find it is..." He rubbed his nose and sniffled, "How do we approach this situation? I already promised no harm would come to her...Do I just outright tell the others that she is going to...well...stay with us?" A nervous chuckle escaped him. The thought of humans and dragons getting along was a very odd concept.

He held up his hands and smiled at his friend. "Don't worry. I work well with these type of situations. I have handled something like this before. Let me go tell the men. " He nodded and walked to go meet the rest of the men who were around the corner waiting for news. He took a big deep breath and with all his might he shouted over all of them "Ok everyone the dragon outside isn't a danger she is only interested in eating goats and trees. She is gonna stay with us for a while so I don't wanna hear any complaints or your all gonna be the first to volunteer to give up your bed for her. Now if there are any questions please take them and direct them into your mind because I am not taking any questions. Thank you for your time!" He let out a sigh of relief and looked to his friend. "That ok?"

"That will work fine my friend. Let me go back to check on our new guest." With this he forced the door open and shut it with the help of people inside since the wind was pushing against it with mighty power. "Damn this storm."

The lady dragon chuckled to herself, "It went well I presume?"

Ayden replied with a nod as he slowly walked to her place in the courtyard. "So, how are you going to build this tunnel you mentioned?"

With a smirk the dragon stood from her stoop in the snow and walked to a more open area of the courtyard. "I shall melt the group with my flame and then burrow my way inside. If you make the cavern right then snow wont be able to flow that far in." Before she even give a warning to Ayden she began to roar as a massive plume of blue flame that almost instantly started to melt the ground around it. The snow melted away, the sand became hard and smooth and after several minutes she already had a fairly deep tunnel large enough for her to crawl inside of. It still took a few hours before she was finished. In this time span Ayden would mostly wait for the heated sand to cool and then make his way inside to continue watching. As interesting of a spectacle it was he still found the cold too much and made his way inside for something to eat and returned.

The tunnel was long and cool as the snow had made its way inside and where the snow could not go the wind still went and cooled the melted stone. At the end was a large dragon made dome like room with a flat basin and a pit off to the end of the cavern. It was impressive that a single dragon could make such a place in only four hours.

He watched as the blue dragon ignited the little pit at the edge and then curled in the glowing embers of her bedding. "This shall work just fine."

Knowing the dragon was settled he made his way back through the tunnel and into the fort. "She is all good to go down there...is there any meat left? I'm hungry."

He nodded and handed his friend a plate of meat and bread and then handed him a cup of mead. "Enjoy friend. I believe others would say you earned it right?"

He nodded and sat down at one of the long wooden tables of their mess hall. After taking a few bites of bread and a sip of mead he chuckled, "You ever try supervising a dragon? Not an easy task to accomplish."

I heard that. He heard this voice in his head with a cautious tone.

Ayden blinked and looked around, "Did anyone else hear that?" When the others shook their heads he became somewhat puzzled.

The voice chuckled, You may find that only you can hear me. We have the ability to speak with more than speech. The voice was calm and he soon recognized it as the blue scaled dragon resting in the tunnel below.

How are we able to do this? He asked and when she replied he was told of something that somewhat shocked him. His reply was full of curiosity and questions that were all answered by his new friend. She gave him insight on a part of his soul that not even he knew was there. Ayden had much to learn about the world and of himself. "I wonder when this storm will end...I'm anxious for some friendlier winds."

He looked over and shrugged, a bit confused by the comments. "Did you just change the subject on your own question? " He eyed him suspiciously as he picked up a plate and began eating the bread on it.

"I have no idea what you are talking about." He chuckled and took another bite of bread. "This is probably a stupid question but did a messenger or anyone come? I would be pleased with new orders..."

Ayden made an unhappy growl, "With this blizzard, it is unlikely that a messenger would be sent all this way out. Our outpost isn't as valuable due to our position. This was a wasted strategy. We should have been posted elsewhere so we would be of more use."

It is so odd hearing one of my own kind speaking of strategy. War is so uncommon for our kind. Said the blue dragon with a mocking tone.

Ayden scoffed a bit, Easy for you to say, the dragons have not had a war in decades. The humans however are always finding a reason to either fight the Elves or each other. It is ridiculous!

He nodded. "I too find it odd that we would be stationed here but then I was told this was a very important station. Clearly someone has misjudged it. " He glanced at the man and chuckled. "No offense."

A few days had passed since the dragon had arrived and Ayden had been training with her in secret. "This is ridiculous..." He was currently in the tunnel with the dragon whom he found was called Lacasiva or as Ayden called her, Shiverscale. She was trying to help him to understand the use of aura although it was not an easy task.

"Just give it more time. It comes naturally for most dragons however you are not as we are. You still have to find the other piece of your soul in The Spirit Realm." She hummed a bit as Ayden pondered her statement.

"What is this Spirit Realm you are talking about?" He stood from his meditation.

"Those whom are born of The Weir have two spiritual entities. These entities are held in alternate realms parallel to our own and act as alternate forms when summoned to this world. For you are a dragon in one of such realms. It may take time but you will find a way to release the binds of your soul and reveal whom you truly are."

The two of them continued to exchange words for some time before Ayden grew weary and decided to walk back to the Fort above. He found that no messenger had come as anticipated and then sat to eat a loaf of bread.

Osric was currently outside taking in the cool air and trying to build up an immunity to the cold. He took a deep breath and just stared out. He didn't believe he would ever be used to the weather but he would make due.

Ayden walked from the fort and stretched, "Ah, I hate being cramped up in this place for so long. This storm isn't helping either..." He looked to his friend. "Nothin yet?"

He sighed and thought intently on the situation before coming to an odd conclusion. "Perhaps...I could make my way to the next post to see what the news is? At least I could give some kind of notice that the way is clear. It shouldn't be too hard if Shiverscale is willing to fly me part of the way." A chill went down his spine when he felt he displeasure with the statement. "What say you?"

Ayden nodded and walked from the fort then down through the tunnel to speak with Shiverscale. She was not pleased at Ayden's decision for he made it without her concent. Either way it was already decided and she would not refuse what he had in mind. Together they climbed from the dragon made cave and prepared for the journey. Ayden carefully placed some deer hide and anything else he could scrape together on a place between some of her back spikes. Once they were in place he used rope to secure the make shift saddle and then climbed up on it. He held onto the neck spike in front of him and then gasped as she jumped as high as she could before expanding her large leathery wings and taking flight into the cold wind of the blizzard.

They rode for quite some time and spoke the entire way through the telepathic connection they had.

He got up and walked a wall leaning against it and sighing. "And now the lively one is gone. " Yawning he stretched into the air and relaxed. "

The two of them eventually spotted one of the other guard posts and landed just a bit away from it as to not frighten them with Shiverscale's appearance. Once Ayden had climbed from her back, he made his way through the snow and into the village. He wasted not time as Shiverscale was waiting and went strait to the guard post to see what was happening. Unfortunately he found that communication was too difficult and it would be a waste of time sending a horse to Ayden's fortress. No orders were current but it still angered him they felt that he and his men weren't worthy of a message.

He quickly traced his steps back through the village and out to where Shiverscale was waiting. After climbing back onto her they flew to the Fort. "Nothing." He said angrily as he walked through the front door. "They didn't even bother to send a messenger this way." The anger swelling inside Ayden was showing greatly and he stormed to the soldier's barracks to lay on one of the hay cots.

"There is no order for us. We are on our own out here. For they care we could leave and never be heard from again. I say we pack our things and abandon this Fort. There is no reason to hold it and in this sort of weather it is a risk for our health..." He placed his hand over his eyes and groaned. The short journey was hard on him, the weather nipped at his skin and the lack of sleep had placed its effect as well.
