End of the Ice King

Just under four hundred years after the Ice King claimed Talera as his own and cast the blizzard over the land in spite of the Dragons, many were killed off as they were now weaker in the cold environment. On specific Dragon had been harmed more than the others since he was just a Hatch-ling and witnessed the slaying of his own mother at the hand of the Ice King's cruel reign. This Dragon's name was Tovarel.

He roared at the Elder with great fury and a deep flame at the base of his throat. "The wicked human killed my mother! The human must pay and if I must I will take his head in my jaw and end his life!"

The Elder returned the roar sparking his own flame in Tovarel's direction, "Watch your tongue little one! You will do as you are told. Us the Dragons are not a violent race, we shall remain secluded in our mountain as we always have. That human is none of our concern."

Tovarel chomped and made a swear that only others of his race would understand. Most of the others threw back their heads and roared. His insult would not go unpunished but he quickly made his way from the tunnels and headed for Tall Wood forest where the Elves lived.

A young spry elf made his way on his very first hunt, somehow losing sight of the group he was with. He held his spear in hand as his white hair drooped down over his deep green eyes. He saw his target, a large buck grazing behind a tree. Vendred pulled the spear beside his head and lined up his sights carefully. Just as he was about to let the spear take flight, a flash of lightning struck down just between him and his prey. The deer was startled and took off running. Vendred blinked, a bit blinded for a few seconds then darted off after the deer. "Come back you little-" He was cut off by the deer prancing over a hill and into a cave. "Right, into the cave then. "

Tovarel had been walking for miles now through the tunnel the Dwarves made in order to trade with the Elves. Every step he took made a slight clack against the stone floor of the spacious gateway and behind him was a Dwarven trader whom kept his distance after Tovarel had roared in his face for attempting to make conversation. After a bit of time he saw the light of day from the end of the tunnel and was greeted by a deer, or in his eyes; lunch. The young dragon pounced on the deer with his mighty structure and took a strong chomp, killing it instantly and staining his scales and teeth with blood. The meat tasted good to him and he continued to eat.

He watched as his prey was devoured in a bite and let his mouth fall open. "D-D-D-Dr" He couldn't get the words out fast enough. Backing up, his face filled with terror. He had been told about the fury of the dragons might when angered. "Dragon!" He managed to scream this as he turned around and started to dart out of the cave.

Tovarel eyed the fleeing elf and snorted with arrogance. "Stupid elf. Although it is wise to flee from a dragon whilst he is eating." When he was finished with the deer he continued from the tunnel and narrowed his eyes to adapt to the sunlight which he had gone for so long without. "Blasted day moon..." A grow escaped his gullet before he continued to walk through the tall trees of Tallwood.

He didn't say anything through out the event. He just eyed the dragon as he disappeared out of the cave. After he was alone in the cave he sat down and pressed his back against the wall. "My first hunt and the prey gets eaten by a dragon. This is perfect" he said sarcastically. "So not only did I lose my group I also came back empty handed. "

Tovarel wondered for some time before coming to the conclusion that he should meditate upon his quest. So he squat down where he was and pondered the situation while shooting jets of flames to keep himself warm in the cold weather.

After a while of his moping, the elf boy stood up, pushing himself up off the wall and marched out of the cave. He was headed for his village when he saw the dragon again. "You. Didn't you talk earlier?"

Tovarel replied with a growl before speaking, "Of course I spoke. I'm not some beast of ignorance as the animals of the world."

He nodded, feeling a bit ashamed now. "Yes. Of course you did. Sorry for my stupidity. "

As Tovarel still felt a shred of resentment toward the Elf he snorted a
bit and clawed at the ground which was now hot with red embers of his
flame. "Is there something you desire from me?" He glanced to the elf,
his emerald eyes glinting from the sunlight along with his strong scales
still young and not worn by age.

He shook his head. "No sir or rather elder? I have been taught to respect all creatures no matter how scary they appear. And this is my way of making amends. Sorry"

Tovarel raised his brow with curiosity in the small creature. "Forget it." He flicked his tail a bit and snorted. "And whom do you call Elder? In my breed I'm still a hatchling. Perhaps ten years in your age."

He grew wide eyed at this and stared at the dragon. "I guess no one then. This was my first hunt so I assume all creatures mightier than I are elder until I have a bit more experience behind me. " He looked down, almost sinking down into his moping again but pulling himself out of it in the instance. " I lost my group I was hunting with then I decided I would hunt alone for a while. And you took the buck I was going for. "

"Always be aware when hunting. Let your prey escape your gaze and you shall not graze that day." Tovarel let out a somewhat relaxed chuckle. The moping elf somehow managed to brighten his mood but it did not do much for the anger still flowing inside of him like a raging river of fire.

He shrugged. "Well I suppose i should be going now. I am sure my father is waiting to give a good scolding. " He waved to the dragon and turned, trotting off towards the Elf village.

Tovarel snorted a bit and sighed, Where should I go now? How on Earth could I possibly hope to end that wretched Ice King...

Quickly, the young elf makes his way back through the forest, quickly finding his home in the village. his father looked down at him stern and sighed. "You will get him next time son. Just stay with the group. " With this the boy nodded and went to his bed, laying down and falling asleep.
